After graduating from the University of Florida College of Medicine with the highest honors, San Francisco cosmetic surgeon Dr. Maas matriculated an internship in General Surgery Head-and-Neck Surgery residency at the St. Louis University College of Medicine and completed his specialty training with a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.

His academic and clinical achievements earned him a full-time faculty appointment, serving as Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for more than 11 years. For the last two and a half decades, Dr. Maas has dedicated himself to helping advance the field of facial plastic surgery with groundbreaking clinical research, receiving countless honors and awards for his endeavors, including the prestigious Sir Harold Delf Gilles Award from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has published more than 100 book chapters, articles and is regularly recruited to lecture to medical societies, both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Maas is also responsible for the specialty education of facial plastic surgery to residents and medical students. Committed to giving his patients the best possible care combining both art and science for a result that is naturally beautiful, Bay Area plastic surgeon Dr. Maas offers a variety of procedures through two distinct practices: The Maas ClinicTM, founded in 2002, and the Appearance Care CenterTM, a state-of-the-art medical spa facility, offering a wide variety of minimally invasive treatments and services.

In addition to his busy practice, Dr. Maas believes in the value of community service and for more than 15 years has provided his reconstructive surgery services free of charge to victims of domestic violence through a special project sponsored by the American Academy of Facial and Reconstructive Surgery. His highly successful “Books for Botox” project collects more than one thousand books annually for San Francisco, Marin and Truckee school children. Dr. Maas splits his time living in both San Francisco and Lake Tahoe with his wife and two young boys, where the whole family can enjoy their favorite outdoor sports including aviation, skiing, hiking, biking, and golfing.
