Dr. Maas discusses cosmetic ear surgery, and why someone might elect to have ear surgery.
One of the most frequent needs for ear surgery is where someone has had an earring pull through their ear lobe. In these cases, Dr. Maas prefers z-plasty repair to move the tissue in a way where the line of the scar is horizontal, so that the earring is less likely to pull through again.
Another reason why someone might undergo ear surgery is because their ears stick out more than they like. This type of surgery is called otoplasty, and is a common procedure among adults and children.
